The St Trinity Patriarchal Monastery, like the Transfiguration Monastery, is situated in the majestic gorge of the Yantra River. It was founded during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom, but it declined during the Turkish oppression. It was seriously damaged during an earthquake in 1913, and it was restored in 1927. Patriarch Evtimii founded his notorious Tarnovo School here. Now it is a girls’ monastery, and a perfect place for rest and solitary confinement.
