PAMPOROVO is the most beautiful winter resort in Bulgaria. It is widely famous all over Europe, and its fame is proved every year by the number of foreign visitors. The resort has excellent, kilometers-long ski-tracks, serviced by modern and comfortable ski-lifts. Dozens of lovely hotels have been built inside the centuries-old forest. They offer excellent conditions for a relaxed holiday at reasonable prices. Pamporovo offers opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, horse-riding, dogs-team riding, motor-sledge driving, and it also has great conditions for organizing tour passages around the area, which has notoriously unique forests and wonderful sights. One of the landmarks of Pamporovo is the Snezanka (Snowwhite) Peak, with its exquisite 160-meter-tall tower. A panorama bar has been built on top of the tower, providing indescribable views with an angle of 360 degrees. The whole resort can be seen below the tower, followed by the numerous ridges in the distance, dotted with a countless number of small villages; further away you can see the peaks of Perelik, Persenk, Prespa, and finally the eyes reach the mountains of Pirin, Rila, Stara Planina.
The nearest town is Smolyan, considered the capital town of the Rhodopes. Smolyan has three separate districts, and in two of them, Raikovo and Ustovo, there are over a hundred archaic houses with unique architecture.
