Nikopolis ad Nestum
This is one of the biggest Roman cities of the new era dawn. It is located near the village of Gurmen. Built by Emperor Trayan in 105 A.C, the city soon became the regional center. The proof of this is the Christian church with beautiful mosaics, discovered there. The city has an area of 28 decares, and it used to be fully surrounded by a fortifying wall. Archaeologists discovered exceptional finds here – statues, bas-relieves, inscriptions, coins, weapons and marble columns.
