Mazalat - Gabrovnica
The valley of the Gabrovnitsa River is one of the largest and most beautiful in the mountain. It is covered with centuries-old beech and spruce forests, dotted with secretive meadows. Above the altitude of 1500 m the forests turn to alpine meadows. The ridge of Triglav rises at the western part of the river. Vertical rock slopes fall down from Triglav, known for the huge avalanches in winter. The most interesting peak of the Triglav massif is Mazalat, providing a breath-taking view. The main ridge of Stara Planina passes over the valley. It is bald but it offers panoramic sights. From there you can see in details Gabrovnitsa and the Singing Rocks Reserve, rich in centuries-old beech forests, beautiful meadows and large highland pastures.
