Madzarovo Defile
The Arda River forms a picturesque gorge with inaccessible weird rocks near the village of Madzarovo. These rocks are a home for one of the richest bird faunas in the Rhodopes, attracting many scientists and bird lovers. The birds of prey provoke much interest, and especially the stock of white-headed and Egyptian vultures. They can be observed at any time in the areas of Kaskaya, Kovankaya, Patronka and Chernata Skala (The Black Rock), all protected by the law.
