The Kardzali dam - lake of black storks

The Kardzali Dam is among the most attractive tourist places of the Arda River region. It forms beautiful bays and peninsulas, with steep slopes rising above them, dotted with weird rock shapes. The most interesting one of them is Halkata (the Loop) - a fantastic rock with a large crack in the middle. It offers a wonderful view of the dam and the villages, situated on its inaccessible slopes. There are numerous remains of ancient fortresses on the peaks around, the best-preserved one called Patmos. It is a medieval stronghold, situated on a lovely peninsula that splits the dam into two sleeves. The Bezdiven Peak rises above the stronghold, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a scenic view of most of Arda’s bed.
