Etara
The architectural and ethnographic complex of Etara was created in 1964 on the banks of the Sivek River, to show the lifestyle of the people from the Gabrovo area in the 18th and the 19th centuries. The houses and the workrooms here are built in the extraordinary revival style, and there are crafts rooms in most of them, where the visitors can get to know the old-time crafts – a fulling-mill, a water-mill, a braids’ room, a saw-mill, a pottery, a dye-house, a pastry shop, a forge, a baker’s, a shoemaker’s shop, a goldsmith’s, a cutler’s, a weaver’s, and a room for making musical instruments. Walking on the cobbled streets, passing under the bending roofs, you will cross the stone bridges of the river. You will walk past the colorful wheels rotated by the falling water, which feeds most of the facilities here. Everything produced here can be bought by the visitors.
