Dolen is a village situated in a beautiful valley on the southern slopes of Beslet. It is a pearl among the architectural masterpieces of the Rhodopes. Its houses were built by Kovachevitsian masters, and yet their style is totally different from the one in Kovachevitsa. You get an incredible feeling when you first see the white houses, perching on the opposite slope, and when you start walking along the narrow, steep, cobbled streets, you catch the spirit of the past. It is not surprising that famous Bulgarian films have been shot here. Rich and smart people lived in Dolen, their main occupations connected with craft and trade.
