The Severen Djendem Reserve is a real masterpiece of nature – frightening abysses, rock towers, centuries-old forests, and of course, lots of game. The territory of the reserve includes the steep northern slopes of Stara Planina, just under the Botev Peak. Some exceptionally beautiful steep ridges cross the reserve; the bigger ones are: Golemia Osriadak, Malkia Osriadak and Turski Rut. There are deep valleys between the ridges, covered with old beech forests. The largest stock of red deer in Stara Planina is here. During the mating season, starting on September 10, you can hear the roaring of dozens of animals from the ridges Golemia and Malkia Osriadak. There is a number of bears and wolves, too, and these animals are surprisingly big in this area. The best way to see the reserve is to climb the Maragidik Peak, and below the peak, from the Turski Rut Ridge, you can have the best opportunity to observe wild animals.
