The Boatin Biospheric Reserve is famous for its centuries-old beech forest, which is one of the kind in Bulgaria, and quite rich in fauna. About 90% of the forests here are beech forests, their average age is 180 - 220 years. These are majestic trees with a height of 40 – 50 meters, and if you stand among them, they make you feel like in a fairy world. The brown bears dominate the area. You can see tracks left by at least 7 - 8 bears, around the brooks of Momina Reka (Maiden River) and Taluitski Dol (Taluit Gully) in different periods of the year. There is a number of does, deer and boars, as well as wolves. The birds' world is also exceptionally rich – you can see and hear this in spring, when Boatin is a real fairy scene of birds' voices. You can get the best view of the reserve if you stand up on the Momin Chukar Peak – first you see within gunshot the gullies and ridges of Boatin, further the eyes get over the Baba Peak and reach the neighboring biospheric reserve – Tsarichina. Klimash is another peak that reveals the beauties of the reserve from the north. The peak itself provides an exceptional 360 degrees panorama, and its beech forests hold a lot of picturesque meadows.
