This is one of the least known regions of the Rhodopes. Small picturesque villages, thick forests, rich in game, ancient fortresses and natural phenomena hide here. The best place of interest is the Thracian fortress with rock niches and rock sanctuary. The fortress is situated on a peak, three sides of which are completely vertical, impassable rocks. You can see trapezoidal religious niches, engraved by the Thracians thousands of years ago. The only accessible side of the fortress was defended by means of a thick wall, 1.5 meter wide, part of which is still preserved. Inside the fortress there are carved altars, circles with a diameter of 3.5 meters, and other utilities. Many of these objects are hidden underground. The view from the fortress is scenic and magnificent. About a hundred meters below there is a rock mushroom-shaped phenomenon with a height of 8 meters. It also has a few carved religious niches. 500 meters away from the fortress is the big rock sanctuary with hundreds of trapezoidal niches, as well as engraved tombs in its foundation. The place is colourful, and from here you can see Bezdiven Peak and its slopes, dotted with hamlets.
